Comfy Method is operated by Marie-Kristin Schuermann, a holistic health and yoga coach. The business is registered in Portugal as a freelance activity (trabalhadora independente) and operates across Portugal, the Netherlands, and Europe.

For the purposes of EU/EEA data protection law (GDPR), Marie Kristin Anne is the data controller for personal data collected through this website. As a Portuguese-registered business, the competent supervisory authority is the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD).

2. What Data We Collect

We collect personal data in the following ways:

  • Contact and email sign-up forms: name, email address, and any message you submit.

  • Booking and payment: name, email, and payment details (processed securely by third-party providers such as Stripe or Squarespace Commerce — we do not store your full card details).

  • Website analytics: pages visited, time spent, device type, and general location data, collected anonymously through Squarespace's built-in analytics and/or cookies.

  • Communications: if you email us, we retain that correspondence.

3. Why We Collect It

We use your data only for the following purposes:

  • To respond to enquiries and provide services you have signed up for

  • To send newsletters or programme updates (only if you have opted in)

  • To process bookings and payments

  • To improve our website experience based on aggregate analytics

  • To meet our legal obligations

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

We process your personal data under the following legal bases, as required by the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679:

We use the following third-party tools which may process your data on our behalf:

  • Squarespace — website hosting and commerce (United States, operating under EU Standard Contractual Clauses)

  • Stripe / Squarespace Commerce — payment processing

  • Luma — event registration for online and in-person sessions

  • Mailchimp / Email platform — newsletter delivery (if applicable)

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law. Email marketing data is retained until you unsubscribe. Booking and financial records are retained for a minimum of 10 years in line with Portuguese accounting and tax requirements (Código do IRS / Código Comercial).

8. Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you

  • Request correction of inaccurate data

  • Request deletion of your data (the "right to be forgotten")

  • Object to or restrict processing

  • Data portability

  • Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing)

  • Lodge a complaint with the relevant national data protection authority (see below)

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Portuguese data protection authority: Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD). If you are based in the Netherlands, you may also contact the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Some of our service providers (including Squarespace) are based outside the EEA. Where data is transferred internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
